Austrade invites Australian companies with capabilities across renewable and clean energy, low-carbon growth, circularity and resilient supply chains to participate in our upcoming mission to Thailand from 11-13 November.
Austrade, through the Australia Southeast Asia Business Exchange (SEABX) and in partnership with the Smart Energy Council (SEC) and the Renewable Energy Council Asia-Pacific (RECAP), will lead an Australian delegation of green economy companies to Sustainability Expo (SX) 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand. The Smart Energy Council is a member of Austrade’s Trade Diversification Network (TDN), and this program is supported through Austrade’s Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI).

Market Background
Thailand has strengthened its climate ambition by bringing forward its net-zero emissions target by 15 years—from 2065 to 2050—and committing to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by 47% by 2035 compared to 2019 levels. To meet these targets, Thai conglomerates and major corporations will need to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon supply chains and sustainable business practices. Emissions-intensive sectors—including energy, transport, cement, steel and chemicals—are expected to face increasing regulatory and market pressure to decarbonise operations, improve energy efficiency and develop lower-emissions products to maintain competitiveness.
Further supporting this transition, Thailand’s Constitutional Court has recently approved a THB 400 billion (AUD 17 billion) emergency borrowing decree aimed at strengthening economic resilience while advancing the country’s long-term sustainability objectives. Key energy transition initiatives are expected to include residential solar incentives, the electrification of public transport fleets, grid modernisation to support renewable energy integration and large-scale battery storage, as well as workforce reskilling programs to support emerging green industries.
These developments create significant opportunities for Australian businesses to partner with Thai conglomerates, industry leaders and government agencies in areas aligned with Thailand’s sustainability agenda. Priority sectors include renewable and clean energy, decarbonisation solutions, carbon and energy management, waste and resource recovery, agritech, sustainable healthcare, water sustainability, and green skills.
The mission will be delivered alongside Sustainability Expo (SX) 2026, one of Thailand’s leading sustainability platforms, bringing together businesses, government agencies, communities and investors committed to advancing sustainable development through collaboration, innovation and investment. SX2026 will be held under the theme “Resilient in Action.”
