About the Indonesian mining industry

Indonesia is one of the world’s largest exporters of thermal coal and a significant producer of copper, gold, nickel, tin and bauxite. It is home to the world’s largest gold mine, second largest copper mine, and some of the largest coal mines globally, based on annual production.

Indonesia remains a profitable and growing market for a wide range of operators and METS providers and there is strong alignment between Australian METS capability and the needs of the Indonesian mining sector.

Indonesia is progressively implementing policies aimed at increasing downstream processing of commodities. This is driving significant investment in the development of downstream processing assets.

Areas of opportunities for Australian METS companies interested in Indonesia include:

  • design and development of downstream processing assets
  • safety-related training, systems and technology
  • environmental management and waste solutions
  • services and technologies to drive operational improvement
  • training and upskilling mining industry workers

Indonesia has a strong relationship-based business culture where tradeshows are regarded as an important tool for meeting new business contacts and positioning and growing your business in-market. Participating in face-to-face meetings and following up with the suitable contacts at Mining Indonesia can generate new business leads and opportunities for new partnerships.

As places are limited, submit your companys expressions of interest before the opportunity closes on Saturday, 10 May 2025.
