Capability Booklet pitching tips

4 tips for writing a strong pitch for international buyers

  1. Lead with what you offer International buyers want to quickly understand what problem you solve or value you deliver. Open with your product or service, then weave in who you are and your story.
  2. Keep it jargon-free and globally clear Avoid acronyms, government program names, or local slang. Write as if the reader has never been to Australia and doesn’t know the local market - because they probably haven’t.
  3. Be specific about your capability and scale Buyers need confidence you can deliver. Clearly state production capacity, turnaround times, certifications, export readiness, or past international experience (if any).
  4. Explain what makes you different - simply Your Indigenous identity and cultural knowledge can be a strength, so connect it to value: design integrity, sustainability, provenance, innovation, or long-term partnerships.

5 key questions businesses should answer in their pitch

  1. What exactly do you sell — and who is it for? (Be clear about the product or service and the ideal customer or market.)
  2. Why should an international buyer choose you over alternatives? (This could be quality, story, sustainability, price point, design, or reliability.)
  3. Are you ready to work internationally? (Think shipping, minimum order quantities, timelines, compliance, and communication.)
  4. What proof can you offer? (Past clients, awards, certifications, export experience, or trusted partnerships.)
  5. What’s the best next step to work with you? (Email, website, distributor enquiry, samples, catalogue request.)
