Australia as Partner Country
About PERUMINFor the first time since its inception, PERUMIN, the most important mining convention in Latin America, will work with a partner country. Australia has been chosen for this special honour.
As the inaugural Partner Country, the Australian Pavilion will have a preferential location in the International Pavilions area, attracting more visitors for Australian METS joining the event. This status will also provide a unique opportunity for Australian METS to showcase their capabilities in the different platforms PERUMIN provides in parallel to Austrade´s business program. As Partner Country, Australia is aiming to have its biggest representation ever in this edition of PERUMIN which will also include officials, academics and experts that can share the Australian story and best practice throughout the week.
There are 46 major mining construction projects in Peru, valued at over US$56 billion, forecast for the next decade*. The high level of investment announced for the Peruvian mining industry, its under-explored territory, diversified mineral base and low energy costs offers significant opportunities for Australian METS exporters across all facets of the industry.
PERUMIN, held every two years in Arequipa, it’s not just a tradeshow but also a conference, a myriad of satellite networking events and the gathering of the entire Peruvian mining community.
The mining sector is proving to be a key driver for the recovery of the Peruvian economy post-Covid-19. Peru-based mining firms are well disposed to Australian innovation providing Australian METS access to supply chain opportunities and to help drive this recovery.
PERUMIN has been central to the successful market entry and expansion strategies of many Australian METS firms. Thanks to its location in Arequipa, the capital of Peru’s southern mining belt, PERUMIN attracts senior executives, mine superintendents, procurement managers, technical staff and potential partners for the duration. In 2019, it attracted more than 65,000 visitors from 50 countries, 2000 booths and delegations from 15 major mining nations.
