Austrade invites expressions of interest from members of the Australian clinical trials ecosystem for priority events under the Australian Clinical Trials Initiative (ACTI).
ACTI is a coordinated, national effort to promote Australia as an attractive clinical trials destination. Through a forward plan of global trade missions, streamlined support, and cost efficiencies, ACTI will enable diversification and greater access to key international markets. ACTI will encompass 25 events over 18 months, taking place across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa (MENA), and Asia-Pacific (APAC).
The initiative brings together Austrade, the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, State Governments, and national peak industry bodies to profile and promote the Australian clinical trials sector. A national messaging and a branding toolkit will be used to promote our competitive advantages globally.
ACTI complements other Australian Government investment in the sector, including $32 million to set up a National One Stop Shop (NOSS) to further enhance Australia's clinical trials system for health and medical research. The NOSS will streamline health and medical research through a single, national approvals and data system, making it easier for patients, researchers, and sponsors to find, conduct, and participate in clinical trials and research in Australia. ACTI is part of Austrade’s broader trade diversification strategy under the Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI).
ANMI is a $50 million, two-year surge program to help Australian businesses respond to an increasing level of global economic uncertainty by building the resilience and diversification of Australia’s export markets. As part of this program, ACTI is receiving partial funding from the Government and some State Governments may also contribute. Australia is home to some of the world’s very best medical researchers, and the Government is investing in promoting Australia internationally as an attractive clinical trials destination.
