The program consists of weekly virtual bootcamp sessions across 2 weeks, followed by a 4 day in-market immersion program in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi from 16-19 March 2027.
The program aims to facilitate market understanding, foster strategic connections, and pilot pathways aligned with Vietnam's green transition priorities.
Who should apply?
Austrade is inviting expressions of interest from Australian technology companies with solutions supporting:
- Energy Management, DER & Smart Grids
- Carbon, ESG & Net Zero Solutions
- IoT & Digital Infrastructure
- Green Logistics & Supply Chain Technologies
- Circular Economy & Industrial Sustainability
Vietnam is emerging as one of Southeast Asia's most attractive markets for clean technology, digital energy and industrial sustainability solutions. Driven by rapid industrialisation, energy security requirements and a commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2050, Vietnam is expected to mobilise more than US$135 billion in power sector investment by 2030 while expanding renewable energy, energy storage and grid infrastructure at scale.
The country's latest Power Development Plan targets:
These trends are creating commercial opportunities with a broad range of Vietnamese customers, including:
- 150 GW+ of installed power capacity by 2030
- Up to 47% renewable energy penetration by 2030
- 10 GW of battery energy storage capacity by 2030
- Rapid deployment of smart grid and grid modernisation technologies
With a digital economy projected to exceed US$90 billion by 2030, organisations are increasingly investing in IoT, AI and real-time monitoring technologies to improve operational performance, resource efficiency and sustainability outcomes.
- Energy and Utilities:
- Vietnam Electricity Corporation (EVN) and power utilities seeking smart grid, DER and energy management solutions.
- Renewable energy developers investing in solar, wind, battery storage and integrated energy management platforms.
- Industrial Decarbonisation:
- Industrial Park developers such as VSIP, Deep C, EcoNa, and Amata pursuing decarbonisation and Eco-industrial parks (EIPs) model.
- Steel, cement and industrial manufacturers such as Hoa Phat, Vicem are seeking energy efficiency, emissions monitoring and process decarbonisation solutions. Export-oriented manufacturers facing growing ESG and carbon compliance requirements.
- Buildings and Real Estate:
- Property developers and commercial building owners implementing smart building and resource efficiency technologies
- Data centre operators requiring advanced energy optimisation, monitoring and resilience solutions.
- Logistics and Transport:
- The logistics sector, which is heavily reliant on road transport, energy-intensive warehousing systems, and extensive distribution networks, is currently considered one of the industries facing the greatest pressure to reduce emissions.
- The sector also faces the longstanding cost bottleneck - estimated at approximately 16% of GDP and is seeking to improve efficiency and strengthen its role as a regional logistics hub.
- Smart Cities and Circular Economy:
- Smart city authorities and municipal agencies investing in digital infrastructure, resource monitoring and circular economy initiatives.
