Who should apply
The mission is best suited to:

  • Companies that are committed to actively developing business opportunities in Europe, both before and during the mission and

  • Research organisations seeking to build international research partnerships and collaborative funding opportunities through Horizon Europe.  

 
Successful participants should be prepared to actively engage with Austrade during the two months prior to departure to maximise the value of the mission. This collaborative approach is intended to lead to tangible commercial outcomes during the mission.  

What success looks like
This mission is designed to generate tangible commercial outcomes for participating companies and researchers. While each delegate's objectives will differ, successful participation is expected to result in one or more of the following: 

  • New customer, partner or investor relationships.  

  • Qualified commercial opportunities and follow-up discussions.  

  • Increased understanding of European market opportunities and procurement pathways.  

  • Progress towards market entry, pilot projects or strategic partnerships.  

  • A clear post-mission engagement plan with priority European stakeholders.  

Participants should be prepared to actively engage before, during and after the mission to maximise these outcomes. 

 

Who should consider joining
The mission is expected to be most valuable for: 

  • Quantum scale-ups with a defined commercial proposition and established quantum companies.  

  • Companies seeking European customers, partners or investors.  

  • Firms exploring European establishment or pilot opportunities.  

  • Commercialisation agencies and university spin-outs looking to internationalise. 

  • Research organisations, university spin-outs and commercialisation agencies seeking to build international research partnerships, participate in European innovation ecosystems, and explore collaborative funding opportunities through Horizon Europe and related European programs. 

 

Selection process
Expressions of Interest will be assessed by Austrade in consultation with mission partners. Applications will be assessed against criteria including:  

  • Alignment with the objectives of the mission.  

  • Commercial readiness and European market potential.  

  • Clarity of business development objectives.  

  • Commitment to participate in both the pre-departure and in-market program.  

  • The potential for Austrade to facilitate meaningful introductions and commercial outcomes.

Please note that the expression of interest is NOT yet an official registration to any activity forming part of the Quantum Mission Europe 2026. Austrade will evaluate all expressions of interest submitted. We will reach out to you to confirm your eligibility, as well as provide information on the next steps for registration and confirmation of participation.
